Maureen Shadair, M.A.

The Seattle Colleges welcome Maureen Shadair, M.A. to Seattle Vocational Institute (SVI) as Interim Executive Dean of Instruction and Community Partnerships. Ms. Shadair will be responsible for the management of all instructional programs at SVI. In addition, she will be tasked with building relationships with businesses and other community organizations.

Throughout her career, Ms. Shadair has held a variety of leadership roles at both four year and community colleges in Washington with a central focus on educational equity. Her extensive experience includes English faculty, TRIO-Student Success Services, director at South Seattle College, director, Women’s Programs at Green River College including WorkFirst and anti-domestic violence initiatives, and Dean of Enrollment and Student Services at GRC. Most recently she served as the Project Director for the federal Title III Institution Strengthening grant at SSC, which offers a variety of Workforce programs. In this role, she led the development of campus wide, innovative instructional and student support initiatives to increase the academic achievement rates of underrepresented students.

Ms. Shadair has extensive training in Undoing Institutional Racism through the People’s Institute for Survival and Beyond, and is certified in Dependable Strengths and the Intercultural Development Inventory. Ms. Shadair earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Whitworth College and a master’s degree in English from Western Washington University.
