Welcome from Maureen Shadair, Interim Executive Dean of Instruction and Community Partnerships
On behalf of our community, I welcome you to Seattle Vocational Institute, part of the Seattle Community Colleges District, and dedicated to providing high-quality post-secondary vocational training in the Greater Seattle region. At SVI we believe that by providing quality education for our students, we improve the quality of their lives, and contribute to the economic prosperity of our community.
Our vocational programs train people for high demand positions in exciting employment fields. We serve anyone in our community, from any walk of life, looking to start a new career at a reasonable cost. Our professional-technical programs are designed to meet the demands of today’s labor market and the challenges of the ever-changing employment arena. We place a high emphasis on student success, walking with them through every step of their education and beyond, from our Admissions Workshops to Graduation and into the workforce. Our dedicated faculty and staff deeply care about the well-being and success of every student who enters our doors. When you enroll at SVI, you become a part of our family.
Located at the heart of Seattle’s Central District, we strive to be an integral part of our community, our city and our region. You may have seen us outside during the summertime flipping burgers and holding raffles for the neighborhood. You’ll see us at local community centers, fairs and parades. We see ourselves as partners in economic and social development for the flourishing of this community. We educate compassionate health care workers, inventive Information Technology specialists, creative and hardworking Construction professionals, innovative Hair Stylists, who thrive in the workplace and propel our economy forward.
Please enjoy exploring our website and the many options available in which you can begin “a new career in a year”. It’s easy to join our SVI family by signing up for an Admissions Workshop. You are always welcome to stop by our campus and meet with our faculty and staff.
