About the Program

Basic and Transitional Studies offers a variety of programs to help learners of all levels, providing the education needed to prepare for college and career readiness. Our programs can help you develop your reading, writing, math and oral communication skills.

Adult Basic Education (ABE)

Adult Basic Education offers reading, writing and math skill improvements for those who want to enter the technical training field or for those who would like to prepare for advancement in employment. Learn more.

English as a Second Language (ESL) 

English as a Second Language (ESL) classes can help non–native speakers and English language learners develop their communication skills. Learn more.

General Educational Development (GED®)

The GED® certificate demonstrates an educational level comparable to a high school diploma. We can help prepare for the GED® test, which will test you in the areas of reasoning through language arts, mathematical reasoning, science and social studies. Learn more.

High School 21+

High School 21+ is a competency–based program for students with work or life experience that helps students build skill and demonstrate that they meet the minimum requirements for a Washington State diploma. Learn more.

The Learning Center Seattle

Learning Center Seattle serves 16 to 21 year olds, who have not completed high school but want to earn their GED® to go on to college, technical training program and/or start a career. Learn more.
