High School 21+
Is it time to get your high school diploma? Are you over 21 years of age? Adults have a new way to get a second chance. It’s called High School 21+ a competency-based high school diploma being offered at Seattle Vocational Institute, one of the Seattle Colleges. An advisor will look at transcripts and knowledge gained from life experience, and work with you to craft an educational plan.
Classes meet on Tuesday through Friday from 5 - 8 p.m.
Tuition for each quarter is $25.
To receive a diploma, students must demonstrate competency in:
- Math in the Context of Science
- Occupational Studies
- Digital Literacy
Students can demonstrate their knowledge through work, life and military experience; a prior learning portfolio; and high school and college transcripts. Adults still have the option of taking the GED®. High School 21+ recognizes life competency and opens the door to federal financial aid which now requires applicants to have a high school diploma or equivalency certificate and is often accepted more readily accepted by the military.
High School 21+ infuses basic skills classes with more rigorous, high school level education so students can upgrade their skills while working toward a high school credential. You will be better prepared to enter college level programs, earn certificates and degrees and secure family wage jobs. With High School 21+, adults have a new opportunity to turn their fortunes around.
