Seattle Vocational Institute’s School of Cosmetology had a recent visit from one of their star graduates, Bryson Conley. Bryson came to the Pacific Northwest on a music scholarship to attend the University of Washington. After attending for a short period of time he faced the fact that hair artistry held a more compelling career for him than the music industry.
He completed his studies and immediately enrolled in the SVI School of Cosmetology. Having honed his craft for ten years practicing by on his sisters’ Barbie and the Cabbage Patch Dolls. When he graduated in 2003 he knew he had made the right decision. On a mission to have more than a job, he set about training with top stylists at top Seattle salons and attending workshops, seminars and taking advanced educational classes offered by Paul Mitchell, Vidal Sassoon and other leading hair artists.
Bryson Conley is quickly becoming one of the youngest and most sought after hairstylist in the world of Film, Television and Entertainment. The training he received at SVI was all he needed to embrace this talent. He began his career in Seattle. After graduating he landed a job at Viva Skin and Hair Care and later worked at Danyale~Lashaun Salon and Daye Spa. He then ventured back home to his native Southern California to pursue his career in television and feature films. He is licensed in the States of California and Washington.
He has worked with world renowned photographers and directors. His editorial credits include, British Vogue, Elle Accessories, Elle, FHM, Figure, Good Housekeeping, Harper’s Bazaar, Maxim, People Magazine Vogue, and W Magazine. His celebrity clients include Jules Asner, Kathy Bates, Macy Gray, Michelle Harris, Judge Penny Brown Reynolds, Prince, Tanya Roberts, Andrea Schroder, Rick Schroder, 50 Cent, Sherri Shepherd Jason Bateman, Melissa McCarthy and Kimora Lee.
Television and Film credits include styling stars for the Academy Awards, ASCAP Awards, BET Awards, CNN, Family Court w/Judge Penny (FOX), Golden Globe Awards, Good Day LA, the Grammy Awards, NAACP Awards, Primetime Emmys, and the Soul Train Music Awards. He has also been the lead or assistant stylist on BET Take the Cake, Deal or No Deal (NBC), Life & Style Live w/Regis and Kelly, Sunday Morning Shootout (A&E), Drop Dead Diva, The Vampire Diaries, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (Assistant Hairstylist), The Internship and Identity Theft.
His fashion & runway credits include Diane Von Furstenburg and Victoria Secret and more. He specializes in precision hair sculpting, multi-dimensional color, extensions and women’s hair replacement for celebrity and a selected private clientele. He specializes in all types of extensions and hairpieces, ethnic hair care and styling.
Recently Bryson landed the role of Hairstylist for Devious Maids, a hit show on Lifetime. He is a great example of how SVI students Step in to Learn…and Step out to Lead!
