Are you interested in becoming a vital member of a healthcare team? If you enjoy the fast pace of a front office then become a Medical Assistant.

Our Medical Assistant Certificate Program prepares you with the business, clinical, and administrative skills needed for successful employment as a Medical Assistant in an ambulatory care / outpatient setting.

A typical day on the job includes: Reviewing daily patient schedules with a physician, listening to phone messages, organizing charts, filling out paperwork and health forms, filing paperwork, preparing patient rooms for minor surgery procedures, and checking patients in.

The Medical Assistant program at Seattle Vocational Institution has an average retention rate of 72.01% for the past five years, and there are a number of support services available to students so that they can successfully complete the program.

After completion, a student will have a base in business, medical, administration and communication, as well as being certified in CPR. These skills can open opportunities across the health care field, from small clinics to large hospital systems and health administrative companies.

Our fully accredited program is designed for graduates to take a National Examination to become a nationally Certified Medical Assistant. Students who pass a national Examination become eligible to apply for Washington State level certification. Full and part time enrollment is available.

Admission Policy

Students must pass the CASAS at the appropriate level. In addition, a high school diploma or GED® documentation is required.

Note: This program does not allow for Advanced Placement, Transfer of Clock Hours and does not recognize prior and / or experiential learning for credit. We are making allowance for transfer of credit as we are seeing an increased number of students who are already degree prepared. This is a Veterans Administration (VA) approved program.
