Building and Location
Seattle Vocational Institute (SVI) is rooted in the historic Central District, on the corner of 22nd Ave S and S Jackson St. Over the last 30 years, more than 15,000 students have passed through the doors and on to a new job or career.
Born out of the Civil Rights movement, SVI and its predecessor, the Seattle Opportunities Industrialization Center are part of a concerted effort to reduce poverty and provide job training to historically underserved populations. SVI continues that mission today.
The SVI building is currently undergoing an asset management planning process with the State of Washington and the consulting firm Maul Foster Alongi, to study and re-imagine how the property can best serve the local community.
